The Power of Please and Thank You

It’s so funny…I think about how many times a day I tell my girls’ “don’t forget to say please” or “did you thank her for that?” Yet so many adults I come in contact with don’t use those simple words in their business practice.  I wonder why.  Is it because needing someone to assist you with something appears weak or gives that other person a little bit of empowerment??  It seems so easy to do…just say the words.  You request something you say please.  Someone gets you what you need, helps you with something, etc, you say thank you.  I do notice that of the people who do say it, I want to help them more, see what else I can do.  Maybe it’s selfish.  Maybe it comes from a feeling that I appreciate someone who is grateful for something I am about to do or something I have done.  Joe Polish of Piranha Marketing once told me that those 3 simple word can do so much to help build a business.  I believe him!  Do you?

    • It always seems to be if we go back the basics: good manners, value relationships, value clients, business success would be unavoidable.

  2. Interesting insight Christie. I hadn’t thought about it, but now that I do, I completely agree. When someone says please and thank you, especially thank you, it makes me want to do more for them. AND, it just makes me like them better :-)

    • I know! So simple isn’t it.
